Stylist LeNicha Barmer was inspired to launch Niche Hair & Wig Studio by a longtime client and friend who was diagnosed with cancer. Chemo took more than the woman’s hair. It robbed her of her self-confidence.
The client bought a wig from a retail store, then asked LeNicha to try to customize the cut and color.
“I did my best, but the wig was of poor quality and didn’t fit her properly. It just wasn’t right,” LeNicha recalls. “As a result, she was never comfortable in it and never wore it. She’d purchased it to make her feel better, and instead it made her feel worse.”
Realizing there was no salon in the area specifically dedicated to helping women with hair loss or thinning due to cancer, alopecia, hereditary conditions, or similar issues, LeNicha was inspired to create one.
The result is Niche. The salon offers professional hair enhancement services in a warm, private setting. Every detail from the expert services to the products used to the studio design has been thoughtfully chosen to give clients the best, most comfortable experience possible while giving their hair and their self-confidence a boost.

Otto Barmer is a certified therapy dog, trained to provide comfort to cancer patients and others experiencing physical health issues or emotional issues (as well as to any clients who simply love having a friendly boy to confide in).
A sensitive Doberman pinscher, Otto intuitively knows when a client needs a friendly face to stroke or when to lean in for a gentle, full body hug.
And because he’s all about comforting others, Otto isn’t offended by clients who aren’t accustomed to canine therapists. Clients may choose an appointment that includes canine comfort or opt to give Otto the day off.
